The Cork legend is credited for establishing some of Cork’s most-frequented nightclubs, like Bogarts and Spiders, as well as playing an instrumental part in bringing the concert series, Live at the Marquee to Cork.
Music promoter Kenny Lee of Aiken Promotions, has passed away on St.Stephen’s Day.
Lee’s former colleague Peter Aiken, credited the former entrepreneur when he spoke to the Echo as “a gentleman who had time for everyone,” who was a “great help to Aiken Promotions bringing the Marquee to Cork- along with Bruce Springsteen, Ed Sheeran and many shows at City Hall, the Opera House and Liberty Hall”.
Speaking fondly of Lee’s "great sense of humour,” Aiken continued, stating that the music promoter will be “greatly missed and remembered."
Lee is renowned for establishing some of Cork’s most-frequented nightclubs, including Bogarts on Patrick Street and Spiders on Hanover Street, and perhaps most notably, played an integral part in bringing the concert series, Live at the Marquee, to Cork.

Paul O’Mahony, former Hot Press correspondent, echoed Aiken's sentiment stating, “I dealt with Kenny in the early '80s for Hot Press features when we were covering clubs like Spiders. He was a lovely man and a thorough professional. We always got on very well.”
The 84-year-old’s son Kenny Jr, also speaking to the Echo, remembered his father’s entrepreneurial spirit, “always bringing new phases to Cork” and how he was “instrumental” in starting Live at the Marquee.
The former entrepreneur, who died peacefully at Beaumont Residential Care aged 84, is survived by his wife Anne and six children Stephen, Marian, Veronica, Kenny Jr, David and Patrick.
