Original cover artist Jim Fitzpatrick visits the mural installation in Dublin City Centre to celebrate the album’s golden anniversary.
In celebration of its 50th-anniversary box set release, the artwork for Thin Lizzy’s third studio album, Vagabonds of the Western World, has been reimagined with a new mural outside Universal Music Ireland. Jim Fitzpatrick, who originally created the cover art, visited the mural on Aungier Street to see the installation for himself.

Upon viewing the mural, Fitzpatrick called the mural a job “well done” and a “beautiful piece of work right in the middle of Dublin on a main street.”
Vagabonds of the Western World was first released in 1973. It was the band’s final album with original guitarist Eric Bell and the first to feature the artwork of Fitzpatrick. After designing the LP artwork for Vagabonds of the Western World, Fitzpatrick would go on to become a longtime collaborator with Thin Lizzy.
