This summer the Abbey Theatre will shine a light on Ireland’s failure to care for children adopted from Mother and Baby homes.

Postscript is the story of actor/playwright Noelle Brown, who was born in the Bessborough home in Cork in the 60s and adopted at 8 weeks old.

Running from 14-21 June on the Peacock stage, Postscript stars Noelle Brown and Bríd Ní Neachtain, recounting Brown’s journey to find her birth parents and uncover her true identity after Bessborough refused to hand her any documents.

Told through a series of letters from Noelle to her birth mother; her adoptive Aunt; and an uncooperative priest, Director Conor Hanratty and co-writers Noelle Brown and Michéle Forbes expose the barriers that adopted people face in Ireland.

Postscript has toured as far afield as Paris was nominated for the Fishamble New Writing Award and the Bewley’s Little Gem Award in the 2013 Dublin Fringe Festival.
