There's a new Hewson about to make a serious splash on the Irish music scene – as Abecca Hewson shares the colourful new music video for her latest single, 'Shikidi Bam Bam'.
The Dublin-based artist – who's reportedly a distant relative of Bono – blends the boundaries between R&B, hip-hop and Reggaeton. She draws influence from her own multicultural background in her music, having been born to an Irish mother and a Romanian father, and spending time in Romania and Spain as an adolescent.
Abecca's musical journey began through her love of theatre, salsa and ballroom dancing, with appearances in several pantomimes over the years.
Inspired by artists like Celine Dion, Nicole Scherzinger, Shakira and Mariah Carey, she began songwriting after taking a year off from university. Abecca soon moved to London to focus fully on her craft.
Her previous releases have addressed the issues closest to her heart – including 2020's 'She Said', dedicated to her sister, who died by suicide in 2019.

Executively produced by Jeffrey Scheltinga, her new single, ‘Shikidi Bam Bam', is an energetic, dancefloor-filling ode to forgetting your worries, having a good time and dancing.
“I want people to act crazy and have fun on my music, but I also want them to know that they are not alone when feeling a certain type of way," Abecca comments. "There is someone who cares and that there is a way out. I want to be an artist that you just don’t know what to expect next and that inspires others.”
