Before appearing at a series of festivals this summer, Aby Coulibaly has shared the music video for her stunning new single 'Patience,' which she performed for the first time at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend
Rising Irish R&B songstress Aby Coulibaly has captured the music scene's attention once more with the new video for her latest single, 'Patience.'
Released via her co-founded collective Chamomile Club and AMF Records, 'Patience' is brimming with smooth vocals and 90-esque R&B, an overall fine addition to her repertoire. Fans of the rising star will remember that since she debuted on the scene with 'Taurus' in 2020, she's gained acclaim for ‘Weekdays,' ‘Where u at,' ‘Chamomile Tea,' ‘On My Ones,' and, most recently, ‘Rewind.'
'Patience' is a song about escapism and not feeling like you belong in the world, giving articulated form to the experience of being "sat in a coffee shop window, watching a world go by that you don't feel part of.
Since performing the single for her debut at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend, the official video release comes eagerly awaited as a continuance of the single's " intimately empathetic contents.

And the video certainly delivers, focusing on Aby going through life solo, complete with a pair of headphones on to help shield her from the outside world. Whether it be running in the woods, doing laundry at a laundromat, or being isolated in the backseat of a car, Aby captures the idea of being alienated from a world you feel like you should be at least familiar with.
"In each chorus scene I'm running through mountains away from society where I feel at peace alone," Aby emphasises. "I came up with the concept and brought it to Sam Fallover who helped me bring the idea to life.”
Sam Fallover was the video's director and editor, who also produced the project with Coulibaly.
Overall, Aby writes from the heart. For inspiration, she draws from her Senegalese heritage and from her day-to-day life and sonically, she looks to the likes of Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill and James Blake as influences. Combining to create an emotionally deep and distinct musical identity on top of her impressive singing skills, she's not an act to be missed.
