This will be their biggest Cork show to date
Indie pop-rock group The Academic have steadily been becoming one of Ireland’s biggest success stories, epitomising what it means to be young in today’s world through their music. Their headline gig at Live at the Marquee on June 27 will mark their biggest headline gig in Cork to date.
The release of their 2018 debut album Tales From The Backseat came with a Choice Music Prize nomination for album of the year, a spot in the US Billboard Charts as well as reaching no.1 in the Official Irish Album Charts. Selling out shows across Europe and the UK and even opening for The Rolling Stones in Croke Park, 2018 was quite the year for the group.
In a statement, lead singer and guitarist Craig Fitzgerald said, "Cork has always felt like a home from home for us so to now headline Live At The Marquee is going to be one of the most special nights we have had as a band. It's an incredible venue and we are beyond excited for the show."
