Yesterday, Hot Press reported that Adam Schlesinger, Emmy winner and Fountains of Wayne founder was in hospital with COVID-19. Today, we are sad to report that the singer and songwriter has died from complications related to the virus.
Variety confirmed that Schlesinger died Wednesday morning. He is survived by two daughters, and was divorced.
At the 2018 Emmy's, Schlesinger was awarded for his work on Crazy Ex Girlfriend. He was an EGOT hopeful, having been nominated for Oscars, Emmys, and Tonys and Grammys. His Oscar nomination came from the title track of the Tom Hanks film "That Thing You Do!", while his Tony nominations were for his stage adaptation of John Waters' "Cry-Baby". He was also nominated for a Golden Globe in 1997.
