The 30 singer reveals her dreams of obtaining an English Literature degree by 2025, following her upcoming run of shows at The Colosseum.
Leading up to her Las Vegas Residency at The Colosseum, Caesars Palace, Adele recently shared her future plans – including a music break to focus on her education.
During a recent Los Angeles Q&A session, the singer revealed, “After Vegas I want to get a degree in English Literature. If I hadn’t made it singing, I think I would be an English Lit teacher.”
After a tearful reunion with her old English teacher last year during the singer’s ITV special, An Audience With Adele, her passion for literature became clear. During the filmed television special, Adele was asked by Emma Thompson about her inspiration growing up.
Speaking about her primary school English teacher Miss McDonald, the singer said, “She left in year eight but she got me really into literature. I’ve always been obsessed with English and obviously now I write lyrics.”
It was then revealed that Miss McDonald was in the audience at the London Palladium, leading to a heartfelt reconnection between Adele and her former teacher.

While the singer originally planned on attending University to become a teacher herself, her music career thwarted education plans. Now, following the release of her fourth album 30, Adele wants to return to her love of English.
“I definitely think I use my passion for English Lit in what I do. I wish I’d gone to university and had that experience, but I will do it online with a tutor,” shared the singer. “That’s my plan for 2025, just to get the qualification.”
Originally planned for earlier this year, the singer was forced to reschedule her Las Vegas residency last-minute, announcing the new show dates in July.
Speaking about the upcoming residency, Adele said, “After what feels like an eternity of figuring out logistics for the show that I really want to deliver, and knowing it can happen, I’m more excited than ever!”
“To be with you in such an intimate space every week has been what I’ve most been looking forward to and I’m going to give you the absolute best of me,” she shared, thanking her fans for their patience during the unfortunate rescheduling.
Adele also recently released the music video for ‘I Drink Wine,’ from her most recent album, 30. The video, directed by Joe Talbot, stars Kendrick Sampson of Insecure as a handsome fisherman spotted by Adele as she floats along a river with a glass of wine in hand.
The music video was initially supposed to be released earlier this year, but the singer also postponed its release following the rescheduling of her Vegas shows.
