Performances set for Detroit, Chicago, Washington, Toronto, Raleigh and Cleveland are to be pushed back until the Aerosmith frontman's condition improves
The North American leg of Aerosmith's Peace Out farewell tour will take an extended break following an injury to 75-year old front-man Steven Tyler's vocal cords. Posting to the band's twitter page, Tyler explained that he had "sustained vocal cord damage during Saturday’s show that led to subsequent bleeding," announcing that the band will be postponing several shows to later dates, under "strict doctor’s orders not to sing for the next thirty days."
Aerosmith, which formed in 1970 consists of lead vocalist Steven Tyler, guitarist Joe Perry and bassist Tom Hamilton, have released 15 studio albums throughout their lengthy careers and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001, alongside the likes of Queen, Michael Jackson and Steely Dan. Having recently concluded their Deuces Are Wild residency as Las Vegas, the band announced their farewell tour, which is scheduled to run until January 2024. "It’s not goodbye it’s PEACE OUT! After 50 years, 10 world tours, and playing for over 100 million fans... It's time for one last go," read the band's announcement posts.
"We’ll need to postpone a few dates so that we can come back and give you the performance you deserve", the rocker wrote. All previously purchased tickets will be honoured for the rescheduled dates, reads the band's statement. Refunds will be available for those unable to attend and fans with questions regarding refunds are asked to reach out to their point of purchase.
