The follow-up album to the 2018 Sweetzerland Manifesto, Sweetzerland Manifesto MKII is set to come out in May
The legendary guitarist Joe Perry has announced his own solo album in the works. A founding member of the rock band Aerosmith and the rock supergroup Hollywood Vampires, Perry has shared that Sweetzerland Manifesto MKII hits streaming platforms a month from now, on May 26th.
The album is a follow-up to his 2018 release Sweetzerland Manifesto, with four songs from the new album alternative takes on the original's tracks plus six new ones.
Included amongst the new material is the recently released 'Fortunate One,' featuring Chris Robinson of The Black Crowes. Perry and Robinson are additionally joined on the track by Robert Deleo, the bassist for Stone Temple Pilots.
Spread out across the album are Robin Zander of Cheap Trick, David Johansen of New York Dolls, Terry Reid, and Gary Cherone of Extreme and Van Halen.
Also lending a helping hand is Sweetzerland Manifesto executive producer Johnny Depp, Perry's The Hollywood Vampire bandmate. Jack Douglas, Bruce Witkin, and Tony and Roman Perry also all helped with the albums' productions.
Largely written back in 2017, Perry shares that he carried the music with him over the years through the ups and downs of his bands, COVID, touring, and more. The end result was a deep desire to share the music with the world, cultivating it into the albums that would become both Sweetzerland Manifesto and Sweetzerland Manifesto MKII.
