Janet Jackson: “Again” (Virgin)

Notable only for its blandness, this latest single from Janet Jackson is a syrup-sweet love song, complete with sorrowful tale of undeserved maltreatment and willingness to forgive. Full of the usual middle of the road production values it would be difficult to find any difference between it and a similar song sung by Whitney Houston or even Mariah Carey. All have pleasant voices and can be listened to easily; none have any real substance or depth.
