The announcement of Moon Safari - 25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition comes shortly after the musical duo announced an anniversary tour to celebrate the album
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Air’s seminal debut album Moon Safari, a deluxe audio-video package will be released by the French music duo on March 8.
The album re-issue will consist of 2 CDs combined with a blu ray DVD and feature a Spatial Dolby Atmos audio version of the original album along with super rare or previously unreleased tracks as well as Mike Mill’s 1998 documentary film Eating, Sleeping, Waiting & Playing filmed during the band’s first ever worldwide tour.
The band are set to do a European tour this year which will see the French band perform the entire genre defining album for audiences. However, there are yet to be any Irish dates announced for the 2024 Air Play Moon Safari Tour.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary last year, the release of Moon Safari catapulted Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel to the uppermost rung of electronic music’s ladder and left an indelible imprint on the budding downtempo music style of the late 90s.

Moon Safari birthed hit singles in ‘Kelly Watch The Stars’, ‘All I Need’ and possibly the group's best known track ‘Sexy Boy’. It has sold millions of copies around the world, and pushed Air into headline status at major festivals. 25 years on. To say the track was a surprise hit would be an understatement, with one have of the duo Jean-Benoît Dunckel saying that the band had originally dreamed of "selling 10,000 copies and being recognised by other musicians as cool".
However in Jean-Benoît own words, upon the release of Moon Safari: "Then suddenly, we met the world.”
To quote Dunckel's fellow bandmate Nicolas Godin: “To me Moon Safari is perfect.”
