Anthology, coming June 30th, will feature 27 tracks recorded in multiple different configurations.
An album of The Rolling Stones’ Charlie Watts’ jazz recordings is set to be released by BMG this June.
Anthology includes features spanning over two decades, the legendary drummer having collaborated with double-bassist Dave Green and saxophonists Peter King, Evan Parker, Courtney Pine and more.
Watts tragically passed away in 2021 at age 80 after a long battle with throat cancer, revealed by bandmate Keith Richards. The new album will come in 4xLP and 2xCD formats, as well as digitally.
Alongside the announcement came the release of 'Ain’t Nobody Minding Your Store,' live at Swindon Arts Centre, Swindon, 1978.

Watts always maintained that he was a jazz man and that the 'rocking and rolling' belonged to Keith and Mick Jagger. It can be seen in his fine-cut suits and impeccably polished shoes that he continued to sport well into the later Stones' tours. Whilst his bandmates dazzled front and centre in their glitzy, garish shirts and too-tight pants, Watts maintained his subtle yet stoic background presence and kept beat as reliably as he had done for over sixty years.
He maintained that Gerry Mulligan’s ‘Walkin’ Shoes’ was the record that made him want to play drums, although he didn't actually enjoy drum solos. Watts was a teammate by nature, a quality that always shone through. The Stones knew they were very lucky to have him.
