London singer-songwriter explores the jagged road to recovery
Just over two years ago, A Common Turn, the debut album from Anna B Savage, announced the arrival of a captivatingly original new force – who juxtaposed the deep-set insecurities explored in her lyrics with a commanding voice and an utterly unique musical vision.
Her follow-up, in|FLUX, finds the singer-songwriter on a journey of growth – beginning as a focused exploration of love and loss on the devastating ‘The Ghost’, before spiralling up and out in both sound and emotion. It’s a continuous evolution that hits its peak with the title-track, which, after layers of evolution and meditative repetition, strikes a gloriously joyful release.
The road to recovery she charts isn’t always linear or clear-cut, but there’s a boundlessness, even hopefulness, to in|FLUX that differentiates it from Savage’s debut. The unfurling nature of her journey this time around showcases the remarkable span of her approach – with a focus on the most intricate details, even at her most expansive-sounding.
Of course, her voice remains the central attraction – used fearlessly, not only as an outstanding instrument, but as a vehicle of raw human expression. With her vocal talents already well-established, she can afford to be playful, taking her voice to places, inside and outside the established norms of musicality, that few other singers would dare.

in|FLUX both charts and serves as a testament to Anna B Savage’s phenomenal growth as an artist – who's surely set to see her name listed alongside music’s most innovative talents over the years to come.
