This reborn band makes a serious move with their latest album, check out our review below!
By all accounts, the creation of the second album from this country and rock infused bunch was filled with drama that threatened to match Fleetwood Mac levels of strife. They weathered the storms of near death experiences, broken ribs and departing bandmates during the gestation period of the tellingly titled Moving On – and also had a bit of an epiphany along the way too. Rather than write about fictional stories, the NI trio opted to draw on real life experiences and it’s yielded a compelling collection of songs that see The Rising soar.
Steeped in modern, mainstream country influences (think Lady Antebellum, Keith Urban and early Taylor Swift), the 13 track album is driven by melodic lead guitars, some sterling pedal steel playing and powerhouse vocals from Chantelle McAteer.
Opening their stall strongly with the anthemic title track, the upbeat, string-laden ‘Take A Hint’ impresses as does the power ballad ‘Love Is’, which borrows from Def Leppard’s songbook. Best of all is ‘Back To Me’ which flirts with folk and adds an interesting (and fun) new dimension to their sound. Come on up for The Rising...
