Hear Cameron play his new singles on his Guild Songbird guitar live next year.
Australian singer-songwriter Alex Cameron has announced a headline gig at Dublin's Grand Social on April 16, 2022. Tickets are on sale now for €17.
The artist has organised the performance to celebrate the release of his two Barry Gibbs covers, 'Islands in The Stream' and 'Midsummer Nights'.
"I've almost lost friends over Barry Gibb's songs. They're so important to me, whenever anyone else covers his songs, or even expresses a love for them, I become possessed by some pubescent demon," says Cameron.
"This single is an attempt to rid myself of that jealous spirit. The one that says this music is mine, and only I understand it."
Cameron acknowledges that covering 'Islands In The Stream' was a brave move, with some fans considering it "untouchable". Luckily, Cameron had a team of people on his side to make it work. Justin Nijssen played bass and guitar on the track, as well as co-producing it with Cameron, who describes Nijssen as his "therapist". Roy Molloy lent his considerable saxophone skills to the song as well.
Rowan Yellowthorn sings on the track with him, "she carries the recording, and gave me license to sing it with her," Cameron explains.

Cameron's dedication to Gibbs is so strong that he plays a Guild Songbird guitar on stage – Gibbs' guitar of choice.
Irish fans will have a chance to see Cameron and his guitar (which apparently triggers "pleas of sound techs in venues the world over") at his sure-to-be incredible gig in April.
