Released 30 years ago this year, the project made history as the first of its format to debut at No.1 on the Billboard 200.
Seattle Grunge icons Alice in Chains have announced a multi-format reissue of their acclaimed EP Jar of Flies.
Alongside a standard black 12” vinyl, the band’s website is offering a tri-coloured vinyl, cassette, a clear variant with “flies”embedded on the record, a deluxe box set, a 60-page hardcover book, and a jar which comes with a red LED and fake flies.
Additionally, there's a new merch capsule collection featuring limited edition apparel, a poker set, a skate deck in collaboration with Welcome Skateboards, and a 'Whale & Wasp' plush toy.

Following extensive touring in support of their sophomore album Dirt, the mainly acoustic Jar of Flies was recorded in a more relaxed environment. It also marked the first time that singer Layne Staley, guitarist Jerry Cantrell and drummer Sean Kinney were joined by bassist Mike Inez, who joined Alice in Chains midway through their 1993 tour.
The self-produced collection showcased the range of the ‘90s rockers, helping to establish them as one of the most prominent bands of the decade. It earned them two Grammy nominations for Best Hard Rock Performance and Best Recording Package.
