Nirvana: “All Apologies” (Geffen)
Nirvana: “All Apologies” (Geffen)
Considering the time of year that’s in it, we at H.P. head quarters thought it might be a good idea to join in the good cheer of the festive season and pass on the singles left at our doorstep this fortnight, to some of the erstwhile personalities of 1993 as Christmas presents.
For example “All Apologies” might be an appropriate token for John Major to slip into Gerry Adams’ stocking by way of reparation for having done the dirty on Sinn Fein a few weeks back.

Or was it Gerry Adams who did the dirty on Major Major? Dear, oh dear. However, since the second track “Rape Me” might be misinterpreted and prove a little too incendiary to entirely carry off the notion of Kurt Cobain & Co. as the Father Christmases of Diplomacy it would probably be up to the third offering “MV”, a previously unreleased number and a paean to marijuana, to heal the rifts and maybe even encourage all and sundry to settle down and, while passing the peace pipe back and forth, have a good smoke over the resolution. That would be nirvana wouldn’t it?
