The Devlins: “Almost Made You Smile” (Lime Records)

The Devlins are one of those Irish bands who’ve been making more headlines Stateside than they have here at home or in England. ‘Almost Made You Smile’ isn’t a bad song, especially in the way they display a musical sense of controlled restraint. It’s difficult, though, not to be reminded of U2 once too often for comfort.
