Doppler's fourth single, 'About You' and its accompanying music video are out now, focusing on love, life, death, and melancholy.
On the heels of their acclaimed 2022 single 'Wait A Long Time For You,' the six-member band Doppler is at it again, writing the perfect swinging, alt-folk earworm track 'About You.'
Recorded at Clew Bay Studios in Westport, the alt-Irish folk band's fourth single focuses on the intertwining complexities of love, life, death, and melancholy.
“There’s an uneasy sort of feeling to this song. Myself and Mick were going through similar difficulties," discloses Mulrooney. He and Mick Dempsey are responsible for Doppler's captivating vocals, additionally playing bass and guitar respectively.
"We both lost our fathers within a 3 week period over Christmas. I actually became a father for the first time and lost my own father within that 3 week period."

"We’re still adjusting," Mulrooney continues.
"There’s something about the tone of this song that captures our struggle I think. Coming to terms with the world around us and surrendering control: 'In reality I wait for a dream that I know will not come true.' Ultimately it documents the darker reaches of both our minds through this period and concludes that the people closest to us are the most important.”
The rest of the band is made up of Raph Dziubinski (Joe Cocker/ Average White Band/ Simply Red), who dominates percussion, Bart De Boer, who handles keys, and Kevin Donnellan (BRÍDÍN), who commands artistic control over the strings.
Filmed and produced by the award winning Irish filmmaker Fioon Rogers, the music video for 'About You' is captioned on YouTube with "Peter goes for a run and gets Doppler stuck in his head..."
It follows Peter putting on headphones and listening to the new single, only, it doesn't seem that he can escape the band, haunted by strange happenings as he goes about his daily routine. From spying them in a passing taxi to finding them in his bathroom, they remain a constant presence throughout the video.

“We just wanted to enjoy the process of making music videos and this is exactly what we wanted to create," Mick Dempsey explains. "We wanted to move in a slightly darker direction in the theme for this video but still maintain some comic touches.”
“This feels like the start of something new for us both and we're excited to see what people think of our new release as always...We’re so thankful and grateful for the support we’ve received."
No strangers to being well received, Doppler's debut single 'A Memory' spent several weeks at the top of RTÉ's Monthly Airplay Chart. The single's stop-motion animation video even premiered on Hot Press. Similarly, 'It's Your Fault Too' was featured across publications and radio stations in Ireland and abroad.
Their Hot Press Track of the Day single, 'Wait A Long Time For You,' also circulated on RTÉ Radio 1's Recommended List for several weeks and was in the Top 5 for both November and December's Monthly Airplay charts.
