Baksteen pays tribute to Ron Trent’s classic ‘Altered States’ with three new cover versions. It’s impossible to better the emotive Windy City standard, but Baksteen’s versions stay faithful to the original, retaining the original, nagging bassline and haunting synths and adding tough, metallic drums, tight handclaps and skipping percussion.
