In commemoration of the twentieth anniversary of iconic singer-songwriter Amy Winehouse's lauded debut album Frank, UMR/Island are releasing the seminal record as a picture disc for the very first time.
Recorded when she was still in her teens, Frank showcased Amy's already fully fledged musical style, distinct songwriting and powerful vocals; marking the debut of a singer who would go on to become one of the greatest artists of our time. Featuring tracks 'Take The Box,' 'Stronger Than Me,' 'F**k Me Pumps' and 'In My Bed,' Frank is Amy's funk, dub, neo-soul and ska-inflected masterwork, an enrapturing and eclectic blend of Winehouse's many musical influences; its title alludes to the confessional lyrical content of the record and to one of Amy's primary sonic influences, Sinatra. The record marks the world's introduction to Amy Winehouse, a remarkable debut that showcased a unique artistry and creative voice that was formed from the start. The thirteen songs on Frank, heralded the arrival of a peerless artist, a phenomenal writer, performer and a true once in a generation talent.
For Frank's twentieth, the album will be reissued on vinyl for a limited picture disc edition. The picture disc artwork uses the original classic sleeve imagery on LP 1, while LP 2 features two beautiful images, taken by renowned photographer Valerie Phillips, from the original artwork photo session, shot in 2003. The disc art shows a young Amy at the beginning of her journey as a musician.
