André 3000, Julia Holter and others have contributed tracks to a new compilation album created to support victims of the Los Angeles wildfires.
Since the catastrophic wildfires started on 7th January, in excess of 150,000 Los Angeles residents have been evacuated from their homes. To date, 27 deaths have been reported, and over 20 people remain missing.
This past weekend, Leaving Records announced via social media the release of a 98-track compilation album to raise funds for people, artists and communities affected by the California wildfires. The album is titled Staying: Leaving Records Aid to Artists Impacted by the Los Angeles Wildfires.
With a total runtime of six hours and 51 minutes, the album includes contributions from André 3000, Julia Holter, Reggie Watts, Laraaji, Baths & Rachika Nayar and more. The majority of the tracks that feature in the compilation are unreleased. The compilation closes out with André 3000’s nearly nine-minute song 'This Is Where My Room Used To Be.' which features Carlos Niño, Alex Cline and Pablo Calogero.

In a statement on the official Leaving Records Bandcamp page, the label’s Emmett Shoemaker explained that 50% of the funds raised from album sales will be "meticulously, manually allocated to Los Angeles artists and music colleagues in need," while the remaining 50% will go toward supporting displaced Black families and communities affected by the fires, and distributed "as equitably as possible".
The album is not available on streaming platforms, and is only available for purchase on Bandcamp in digital, vinyl and cassette formats. To purchase, please see here.
