The American artist will be releasing a new album Binary in 2017.
Ani DiFranco has announced a Dublin date in June next year at Vicar Street. This will coincide with her new album release Binary.
The American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and poet has released more than 20 albums and is widely considered a feminist icon.
She was one of the first independent musicians to create her own record label - Righteous Babe.
From the earliest days of her career and through the Righteous Babe Foundation she lent her voice and her name as a social activist in many movements and causes. DiFranco has backed various cultural and political organisations, supporting causes ranging from abortion rights to gay visibility.
Her honors and awards, include a Grammy for Best Recording Package - Evolve, the Woman of Courage Award from the National Organization of Women, the Gay/Lesbian American Music Award for Female Artist of the Year, and the Woody Guthrie Award. At the 2013 Winnipeg Folk Festival she received their prestigious Artistic Achievement Award, and an honorary doctorate from the University of Winnipeg. In 2017, she will be receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award from A2IM (a nonprofit trade organization that represents independent record labels) and the Outstanding Achievement for Global Activism Award from A Global Friendship.
