The show will support Burch's upcoming album, If You're Dreaming, out April 3.
Anna Burch has announced a headline show at Dublin's The Sound House on Friday, May 8 in support of her upcoming album If You're Dreaming, out.
Burch made a name for herself with 2018 debut Quit the Curse, a concentrated wash of energetic pop complete with jangly guitars, carefree harmonies and a touch of grungy fuzz. Her straightforward songs hid their complexities beneath sunny hooks, presenting narratives of confusion and upheaval with bright serotonin-boosting melodies. Follow-up If You're Dreaming sheds Burch's nervous energy in favour of a deeper exploration of the internal world.
The sophomore album, recorded with producer Sam Evian in upstate New York, contains recurring themes of isolation, weariness and longing, these songs deliver that emotional arc with a delicate but uncompromising execution. Burch’s intrinsically catchy songwriting dials down the urgency of her debut a notch, taking a turn towards airy, jazz-voiced chords, floating reverb and an expansion of the sonic palate with unexpected instrumentation. If Quit the Curse was a representation of wide-eyed party hopping, If You're Dreaming is a more solitary walk after midnight.
