Anna Leone's 2018 debut EP 'Wandered Away' drew acclaim and much-deserved 'Ones To Watch' accolades.
Hotly-tipped Swedish singer-songwriter Anna Leone has returned with a new single and video. Produced by Paul Butler (Michael Kiwanuka), 'Once' is lifted from Leone's much-anticipated debut album, which is due for release sometime this year.
The dreamy new video was shot on the Azores archipelago. It mirrors the track's urge to push past impulses to shut off from the wider world. "The narrative loop comes from the idea of being stuck in your ways, going through the same patterns, but then choosing to break out of that and do things differently," says Leone. "Towards the end I reconcile with the past, symbolised by the little girl. I choose to embrace what once was in order to move forward. It was incredible getting to shoot the video in that beautiful environment. The weather was really unpredictable - we went through almost all four seasons in one day."
According to a press statement, Leone's upcoming album builds on her honest vulnerability, squaring up to identity (particularly acknowledging her own sexuality), and the anxiety she's experienced. An introverted child, Anna absorbed herself into DC/Marvel comics and Star Wars, writing songs on guitar with no intention of ever playing them beyond her bedroom.
