The Eurythmics singer calls for peace in the Middle East
Annie Lennox has posted on social media reflecting on the mass of casualties that have resulted from the Israel-Hamas war.
The 'Sweet Dreams' singer criticised Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu saying, “I want to see the innocent hostages returned safely to their families,” but “This tragically doesn’t seem to be a priority for [Israeli Prime Minister] Netanyahu and his government.”
In an infographic posted to instagram, Lennox highlighted mass destruction and life loss that has resulted from conflict in the past 12 months.
Lennox warned that, "On Oct 7th 2024 we are looking at a potential ‘forever war’ situation, with the entire Middle Eastern region on the brink of being completely drawn into it," with the continuation of conflict.

She continued saying she "had always hoped things might change for the better.. but tragically - that is not the case."
Calling for a ceasefire Lennox said "All I call for is a cessation of violence - even if it seems impossible. One day they will either have to come to the table, or the entire world will go to hell in a hand basket."
Other celebrities have been vocal in their support of a ceasefire between Israel and Palestine including Megan Thee Stallion, Chappel Roan, Hozier and Drake.
