The Ennis-born songwriter's upcoming album, Gaps Between the Stars, arrives this Friday.
Aodán Coyne has unveiled the second single off his upcoming album, Gaps Between the Stars, entitled "Honey Wine." The track finds the singer strumming along while reminiscing about old memories of time spent with friends, and comes bundled with a fittingly nostalgic, rose-tinted video. Watch below.
"'Honey Wine' is a song which recalls the best times spent with the best friends, those amazingly good days spent playing music, laughing, drinking and sharing memories around West Clare," Coyne explained in a press release. "Some of those friends are now living their own lives abroad. Others have since tragically died to suicide. These friends influenced my life choices, be it with pursuing music as a career or simply soaking up the juice of everyday life. The key takeaway is about cherishing those happy memories that you still have."
Gaps Between the Stars is set to release in full this Friday, 22 November.

The release of 'Honey Wine' is well-timed alongside a rare trip home these days for the Ennis native. Aodán has just returned from another month touring in the U.S. and is due to hit the road again on 1 November for a European tour with his band Socks in the Frying Pan that takes in Holland, Denmark and France.
When at home, Aodán frequently guests with his good friend Emma Langford. He will do so again in November, and also adds his musicianship to Emma’s pending new album. Here is a list of Aodán’s upcoming live shows (including an initial show in Dublin!):
Tuesday, October 29th – The Ruby Sessions, Doyles Pub, College Street, Dublin 2
Thursday October 31st – Monday November 18th - Touring in Denmark, Holland and France
Tuesday, November 19th – The Urban Co-op, Limerick (International men’s day)
Wednesday, November 20th – Bridge of Song, Bridge St. Bar, Mayo
Friday, November 22nd – The Sanctuary, Ennis, Clare (‘Gaps Between Stars’ Album Launch)
Thursday, November 28th – The Washerwoman, Ballina, Tipperary (With Emma Langford)
Once he had the concept for his album, within six months it was written. The album was written on the outskirts of Ennis overlooking the lake of Ballyalla, a surge of scenic calm in the midst of the creator’s hectic schedule. To record, Aodán teamed up with the same production team behind Emma Langford’s award-winning album, Quiet Giant: Chris O’Brien and Graham Murphy at The Production Suite Dublin. This 2019 LP follows Coyne’s acclaimed 2015 debut If We Only Knew. This time Coyne wanted to return to what he felt was always his first calling, being a singer-songwriter.
"Just making the kind of music that I love," Coyne said. "That sort of roots-slash-singer-songwriter-slash-folk thing, but with contemporary vibes and some experimental sounds. At the time I didn’t even know who, if anyone, would be interested. But I knew I just needed to record and get my music out.”
