The synth is up for £99,950 (€115,154) and is one of only 100 models ever made.
Aphex Twin's rare Yamaha GX-1 synth is up for auction with bids starting at £99,950 (€115,154).
Listed on Vemia, the online auction platform run by The A-Z of Analogue Synthesizers author Peter Forrest, the GX-1 is one of only 100 units ever made by Yamaha since its launch in 1973.
This particular unit is being sold by Colin Fraser of Sequentix, the company behind Cirklon. The synth has been fully restored, all accessories have been refurbished, and MIDI has been added to all three manuals, as well as other add-ons.
According to the listing, “After some painstaking work at the Sequentix studio, it is in full working order as envisaged by Yamaha all those years ago.”
