The British electronic fusion maestros will play Dublin’s Academy on Sunday, October 10th, 2021.
Following the release of their acclaimed fourth album Glowing in the Dark earlier this year, UK art rock outfit Django Django are set to play their first Irish show in over three years.
Ready to perform in Dublin's Academy this October, the four-piece have established a solid following in Ireland over the last decade by bringing their brand of consistently inventive new music to the island's main festivals.
Over the course of their exhilarating discography to date, Django Django have constantly headed left where others have gone right. The group are known for their genre defying eclectic sound, with Glowing in the Dark heralding the beginning of a thrilling new era for the band.
The outfit's follow up to 2018's Marble Skies has a running theme of escape - from despair, constraints, small town life, and even the Earth.
"The London foursome have proven that they truly have their musical wits about them this time. Although some might call their mad-scientist-like fusion of genres confusing, their fourth record is actually quite coherent – in a weirdly wonderful sort of way," Hot Press' Tanis Smither wrote in her review of the LP.
"Glowing is delightfully anti-pandemic, a true reason to be cheerful. This is art for art’s sake, an album that revels in fitting music from completely different eras together like puzzle pieces. You’ll find little talk of politics here. The record is a sign of maturity – Django Django aren’t trying to be anything more than exactly what they are, and they have (finally, some will say), learned how to organise the chaos of their influences into a true masterwork."
