Earlier this month, Hot Press' Maria Verrecchia caught the Icelandic star in some glorious Scandinavian surrounds...
Tonight it’s a folk affair in Copenhagen as Ásgeir Trausti takes to the stage with his band in the city's beautiful Concert Hall. It’s a sold-out show with visibly more females than male. That might have something to do with the 21-year-old Icelandic singer-songwriter’s mesmerising voice and good looks. He has been described as an Icelandic Bon Iver, which this evening, is clear to see.
The crowd happily sing along to his songs, in an atmosphere that can only be described as intimate and low key. His funny attempts to speak some Danish seem to amuse the audience, as he sings a mix of numbers in his native tongue and also a handful in English. All in all, it's a very special show with 'Going Home' being the moment that truly brings the whole room together. He ends the show with much gratitude to the crowd and on he continues to tour the album Dyrd i daudathogn. You wouldn't bet against it proving just as popular in Ireland next year.
The album has so far only been released in Icelandic but an English version of it is due out on January 27.
