Ask an Artist is a new Hot Press interactive feature where we give you the chance to ask whatever you want . We caught up with Simeon Baker, a musician from Australia, and let you ask anything with the instagram 'Questions' sticker .
Simeon is an Australian-made guitarist, who moved to London at just 19 to play music. Now often traveling in his Van photographing the world and making music.
How did you get started as a musician?
When I was a kid I played trumpet for, I don’t know, a while and when I was 14 I started playing guitar and since then I’ve been obsessed with playing guitar.
Why did you move to Europe?
I grew up in Adelaide in the south of Australia. The music scene there is very small and it’s not very connected to the rest of Australia or the world. I knew I wanted to move away and then when I was 18 I decided I was going to move to London - so I did and I’ve been in Europe for six months.
Craziest experience you’ve had while busking?
The first day I ever played in Dublin I got robbed and I grabbed the guy and tried to get my money back - which I did but it could have ended badly. So that was a bit crazy but besides that not really that many crazy experiences.
Why do you play the guitar sideways and how do you do that?
So, I play this percussive guitar style and sometimes it’s flat on my lap. Why I play it like that is because I like it and it gives me this really full sound. How do you play that way? You’ve just got to practice a lot and yeah.
What do you do besides music?
Well, I’ve been on the road now for three years. I bought a little camper van three years ago and I do a lot of photography as well so I work, at the moment, with brands and tourism boards and I just go and take photos of pretty places!

Top three places you’ve visited?
