Aslan have announced their new frontman months after the death of their beloved lead singer Christy Dignam who pass away in June of last year.

The Dublin band revealed they will be fronted by Lee Tomkins, a Glasnevin native. In the same post, Aslan revealed an upcoming 2024 Irish tour.

Tickets for Aslan's upcoming Irish tour went on sale at 10 am this morning, with an extra Whelan's date added due to popular demand already, having sold out immediately.

Band members Joe Jewell, Alan Downey and Billy McGuinness confirmed Dublin singer Lee Tomkins will join them on their tour of Ireland this year today via X.

The band posted that they would be doing an Irish tour which will see Aslan perform sets in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Waterford and Wexford.

Aslan's statement read 'After 40 years of playing with our frontman Christy, we know it absolutely is not the same and never will be but we want to continue playing our music to you"

"This is our way of letting our memories of over four decades, live on and keep Aslan alive within each of us"

The post continues: "We are looking forward to seeing you again and we welcome Lee Tomkins, who will be singing our Aslan songs and has been a huge support to each of us in being able to make this happen,"

The post on the band's official social media platform was signed off by Joe, Alan and Billy.

Lee Tompkins is a former member of the band DC Tempest, a group which supported the likes of  Bon Jovi , Razorlight, Kid Rock. Tompkins has described himself as a "very good lead and rhythm guitarist and also plays keyboards and piano." He is also familiar with one of the venues announced on Aslan's 2024 Irish tour- Whelan's, having played there many times both with his group and as a solo artist.
