"To say we are devastated is an understatement but Christys health as you know is always our priority," Aslan told their fans.
Aslan unfortunately won't be performing their 40th anniversary gig at the 3Arena in Dublin on Saturday due to their frontman's health.
Posting to their social media pages, the Dublin band said singer Christy Dignam has suffered a 'setback' with his ongoing medical treatment and won't be able to perform on doctor's advice.
The gig at the 3Arena was set to celebrate 40 years of the legendary Finglas band, with a "lot of special guests joining them on stage" according to guitarist Billy McGuinness. Ticket holders were told today that the gig would have to be pushed back as Christy battles the incurable rare blood disease amyloidosis.
The pop/rock veterans said they were "devastated" at the news and apologised to fans who had travelled, booked flights and accommodation for the gig.
However, they insisted that Christy's health is their priority and they asked fans to respect his privacy and allow him time to get through this struggle.
Speaking on social media, the band said, "Everything was going so well coming up to our 3Arena show and Christy was doing great. However, he has suffered a set-back with his treatment, and we have now been instructed by his doctors that it is not advisable for Christy to perform this Saturday.

"Christy, Joe, Alan, and Billy are beyond devastated to have to share this news with you. We are working to find a new date at 3Arena, so do hold on to your tickets, as they will be fully valid for the rescheduled date.
"As you all know, Christy's health is priority, and we also have to respect his privacy at these times."
