Atomic Funkster
Luke Slater digs up his old Planetary Assault Systems guise (cue much reminiscing amongst ‘serious’ techno heads) for eight blasts of ‘serious’ techno.
Luke Slater digs up his old Planetary Assault Systems guise (cue much reminiscing amongst ‘serious’ techno heads) for eight blasts of ‘serious’ techno. In contrast to his recent, slightly mental Coad Warrior output, ‘Atomic Funkster’ returns to that sleek, polished machine funk sound of old. That means flawless minimalism, pulsing basslines and intricate drums on ‘Atomic’, paranoid, trancey (in the true sens eof the word) tech-funk on ‘Groove For Thought’, a phased Sterac-meets-UR collage on ‘Mind For You’ and techno with a Murk-y swing on the excellent ‘Booster’ remix.
Casual techno fans may find the lack of hooks boring, but for techno lovers, this is a blast.
