The controversial rapper, due to play The Academy on Tuesday, has posted a tirade against Aer Lingus staff on her Instagram.
Azealia Banks took to Instagram today to post a number of lengthy stories detailing her experiences on a flight from Gatwick to Dublin.
The New York rapper, who is no stranger to controversy, described her interaction with staff on board an Aer Lingus plane in Gatwick in a series of emotional posts, which have quickly generated online backlash.
A tearful Banks stated that a member of the inflight crew had asked her questions she “didn’t have an answer for.” Banks then accused the crew-member of lying to the captain about her behaviour. After claiming that the rest of the crew had surrounded her, “chastising me like I’m some fucking animal,” Banks exited the plane before take-off.
Continuing on with her complaint, Banks stated: “I’ve worked too hard in my life to be cornered by some ugly Irish bitch.”
The rapper, who originally skyrocketed onto the world stage with her major hit ‘212’ in 2011, is scheduled to play a sold-out show at The Academy on Tuesday night. She has since reassured fans that she will find her own way to Dublin, and the gig will go ahead as planned.
This is not the rapper’s first flight-related controversy. In 2015, Banks came under fire for using homophobic slurs in a heated argument with a flight attendant on a Delta Airlines plane.
