The 13 Bandcamp Fridays so far have raised €47 million for artists.
Bandcamp has announced they will continue their Bandcamp Friday programme for the rest of 2021.
The online music platform originally announced this initiative in March of 2020, to aid the musicians struggling to survive during the COVID-19 pandemic. On the first Friday of most months of the year, the platform has waived their revenue share to ensure that close to 100 percent of profits from downloads and merch go directly to artists and labels.
In the wake of live performances beginning again, Bandcamp Fridays appeared to go away on May 7th. However, beginning August 6th, the initiative will return once again until the end of the year, assisting artists with the long-term financial impact of the pandemic on the music industry.

Even if the programme ends in December for good, Bandcamp continues to be a leading example for streaming platforms looking to support artists. During Bandcamp Fridays, Ethan Diamond writes, artists receive 93 percent of money spent after processing fees, and ordinarily that number is 82 percent.
