Bandcamp unveils new livestreaming feature for artists
Bandcamp also recently reinstated 'Bandcamp Fridays' for the rest of 2020.
Bandcamp has announced a new livestreaming feature on their platform, making it easier for artists to set up ticketed livestreams.
The Bandcamp Live shows will be amalgamated with the platform's existing format, with a 'virtual merch table' and live chat. Artists will be able to promote the show to their Bandcamp fans. Bandcamp has long had a Fair Trade Music Policy, and Bandcamp Live is promising to give 80-85% of the ticket sales back to the artist.
The company has also announced that it will waive its Bandcamp Live fees until March 31, 2021, so that 100% of ticket sales will go to the artists during that time.
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Cloud Nothings, Liv.e, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, Madison McFerrin, Hatchie, and Pedro the Lion are among the artists who have already confirmed shows on the new livestream platform.
Bandcamp are also waiving their fees for merch and digital sales for the first Friday of December (December 4th).
