This fortnight, Patrick Combs returns with the story of his one-man fight against the establishment, Man 1, Bank 0.
In 1995, California native Combs pulled off a very impressive stunt indeed. Having lodged a fake cheque to the tune of $95k into his bank account, the motivational speaker managed to stick it to ‘The Man’ by keeping the sweet cash.
Though undoubtedly the unfortunate bank teller in question was swiftly issued a nice cotton-blue P45, Combs turned the experience into a one-man show, which has toured worldwide, including 18 Irish dates last year. Hear this incredible story from the horse’s mouth at the TF Royal Theatre, Mayo (March 11), Cork Opera House (13), Set Theatre, Kilkenny (14), Tipperary’s Source (15), Glór, Clare (16), INEC, Killarney (18), Waterford’s Theatre Royal (19) and Dublin’s Olympia (21).
Also making a whistle-stop tour around the country this fortnight is Neil Delamere, who takes Restructuring on the road. The Offaly comedian recently told Hot Press; “I just kept reading in the papers that we need to restructure our debt, and we need to restructure our civil service, and also – my own life has been changed. It’s a catch-all kind of title for all those things”. We’re intrigued… The show runs in Hawk’s Well Theatre, Sligo (8, 11), Vicar St. (9), Backstage Theatre, Longford (19), Pavilion, Dublin (15) and Riverbank Arts Centre, Kildare (16, 17).
Tommy Tiernan meanwhile, continues his world tours of, um – Kerry and Limerick. The Navan man will perform in Limerick’s Woodlands House Hotel (8), Devon Hotel (9) and Bulgaden Castle (10), before heading to the Kingdom – where he’ll take to the CYMS Hall’s stage in Killorglin (14).
Elsewhere, Brendan Grace performs in Dublin’s Gaiety (7 – 10), Hardy Bucks is in the Cork Opera House (8), PJ Gallagher’s Raging plays in St. John’s Theatre Listowel (16), Abandoman is in the Mill Theatre (17), and Eric Lalor plays Dublin’s International (21).
