The Carlow Arts Festival has announced their official programme with over 80 events.
From Wednesday June 5 to Sunday June 9, Carlow Town will host the 45h annual Carlow Arts Festival. This festival will include events across disciplines including dance, literature, circus, spectacle, music, theatre, cinema and visual arts. Basht. will headline on Saturday night, June 8.
The five piece, Dublin based indie rock band is known for their debut EP Dirty White Lies as well as incredible live performances. Their EP was released this past March and they have since tour across Ireland and the UK as well as toured with Wunderhorse.
Band members Jack Leavey, Sam Duffy, Louis Christle, Luke O’Neill and Rossa Healy will take the stage with other acts including Eric de Buitléir, Danny Carthy and Tumbling Dice.

More musical performances will occur on Friday, June 7 including ASH and 90s dance music group CnC, composed of Dave Caffrey and Pablo C take the stage. On June 8 SNKY Sessions will support DJ Hippyhun. On June 6, FĒNIX, Just Alice and Kendal Moody for a free concert.
This year, the festival’s opening performance will be an outdoor interactive show entitled Pelat which was created by Spanish artist Joan Català at Carlow College. The festival has opened a new venue called The Yurt which will host spoken word, comedy and talk events throughout the festival.
Many events suitable for children and families including Carnival Of Collective Joy which is returning to Carlow Arts Festival for the third time. Children can also participate in complimentary dance workshops, attend events like Music Generation Carlow or be brought to the designated child zone.
Artistic director Benjamin Perchet announced the festival programme by saying, “Storytelling emerges as a predominant theme in this year's program.
“The Irish have a unique way of narrating tales that are rich in exaggerations, fantasy, and dramatic flair,” he continued. “Carlow Arts Festival 2024 will showcase stories through a variety of mediums from music and spoken word to comedy and contemporary dance...I invite everyone to come and be inspired.”
The 2024 festival will take place from June 5 through June 9. Many of the events are free but require prior booking. A Music Pass will grant the owner access to all music events with a day pass priced at €15 and a weekend pass priced at €35.
