Things are heating up for fans of refined dance music
It’s getting busy on the clubbing front. Answer Code Request, Henning Baer, Gregor Tresher and Lake People are on the way to Ireland. We can also look forward to releases from Bowsie, DSNT and L.A.W.
Belfast-based DSNT Records have announced an EP by Mr Jones, with remixes from Inigo Kennedy and AnD. DSNT are also planning their third birthday party. Marcel Dettmann played at the last anniversary bash. We’re looking forward to this year’s celebrations.
Full Funktion have released a new track under their Bowsie alias. ‘Invisible Sunbeam’ is on German imprint Traum. It features on the Tour De Traum VIII compilation alongside Max Cooper, Extrawelt, Dominik Eulberg and Gabriel Ananda. L.A.W. have put out their Nine Spines EP on Black Nation Records. Black Nation was founded by Jay Denham in 1992 after he issued several originals and remixes for Kevin Saunderson and Derrick May.
In clubbing, Room 19 return to the Twisted Pepper, Dublin August 7. On August 8 Nomad Sound present Amine Edge & Dance in the Button Factory, again in Dublin. On August 9 Bedlam and Hidden Agenda host XXYYXX in the Button Factory. The 18-year-old Florida native shot to fame when he signed for Relief. He has been likened to Clams Casino, Zomby, James Blake and The Weeknd.
Answer Code Request plays Twisted Pepper on August 9. With his first record in 2011, there were rumours he was an alter-ego of more established Berghain artists such as Marcel Dettmann or Shed. His true identity was later revealed as Patrick Graser.
A new night, Zeshwan, launches in the Grand Social Loft August 13. The promoters have booked UK minimal artist DJ Avrosse, who has debuted a new label Droplet Music. On August 15 Bedlam and Bodytonic bring Huxley in the Twisted Pepper.
On August 16 Vision Collector welcome Henning Baer to the Twisted Pepper basement. The Berlin producer and DJ established the esteemed Grounded Theory party and booking agency, which recently celebrated 25 years in the business. For fans of no-compromise techno, this show is not to be missed.
Upstairs that night L/B/W takes control of the Twisted Pepper stage. This is a Dublin electronic pop band comprising of Ian Lamont, James Bailey and Patrick Wall. Bailey and Wall both played in Glenn Branca’s legendary ‘guitar orchestra’. The group met studying Media and Music Technologies. This show follows recent single ‘Money/We All Partied’.
Re:Publik presents the Irish debut of Lake People in Waterford’s Crystal nightclub. Lots of excitement surrounds this show, following recent underground hits such as ‘Point in Time’ and a recent remix of Chymera’s Caprica Burning on Guy Gerbers’ Rumors imprint.
Melodic welcome Gregor Tresher to the Grand Social on August 22. The Break New Soil label boss has released on Cocoon and Drumcode in addition to remixing for Moby. Tresher has also put out five studio albums; his track, ‘A Thousand Nights’, was the best-selling techno tune on Beatport in 2008.
