TG4 in ambient chill-out shocker! Yup, October 24th sees the broadcast of a Rianta special from the Café Mambo in San Antonio, Ibiza. The best darn dance show to ever hail from these isles, the programme’s current fave raves include Nightmares On Wax ‘Les Nuits’, Neon Heights ’16 Again’, Shaun Lee ‘Happiness’, Fila Brazilia ‘Throwing Down A Shape’ and DJ5 ‘Sunset’… Congratulations to Cream resident DJ Yousef for landing himself a gig at BBC Radio 1FM. He joins an on-air dance team which includes Ireland’s very own Fergie… Those in the know reckon that, with a bit of judicious remixing, Invincible could regain Michael Jackson his dancefloor cred. Due on October 29th, it’s impressive cast list includes Rodney Jerkins, Babyface, Teddy Riley and R Kelly…Workaholic that he is, Oisin Lunny is currently twiddling the knobs on Ted Barnes’ new album. Who the dickens is Ted Barnes, you ask? Well, he’s the geezer who co-wrote much of Trailer Park with Beth Orton and Red Snapper’s Ali Frend. On the Firstborn front, ‘The Mood Club’ can be heard during one of the pivotal scenes in new Irish comedy, Peaches, and David Gray is said to be well interested in the boy Lunny doing a remix. We’ll keep you posted. Oh yeah, we nearly forget. He’s also collaborating with author Bennan Murphy on a dead intellectual spoken word project… Basement Jaxx fly the house flag at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2001 in Frankfurt. Taking place on November 8th, the ceremony’s only other dance content comes courtesy of Roger Sanchez. Well, unless Andrea Corr has suddenly come over all trance… The dubfather himself, Lee Perry, plays back-to-back Mono, Dublin shows on October 27th and 28th. Joining him and The Sane Inmates is the equally barking Mad Professor… Fatboy Slim has officially denied that he’s hanging up his headphones. “Some people are going to look completely stupid – I have no plans to retire,” Norm says. “You’re going to have to kill me first”. With that it was off to Buenos Aires for a gig at the unspeakably hip and happening Clubland @ Pacha… Andrea Parker takes care of guest spinning duties on November 16th when Diode returns to the Kitchen. The newest addition to James Lavelle’s Mo’ Wax roster, her juicy electro set is not to be missed… Ditto Soul Riot which makes Wednesday night attendance at the Temple Bar Music Centre
