Dublin trio the Hard Breed DJs – aka Mark Young, Cheeky and XS – unleash their debut mix album next week. It features a host of their own hard dance productions, and a few from the RDG studio in Dublin, including Wayne Reid’s awesome ‘Rave Injection’. Reid’s tune is set for release as a single on Jay Pigeon’s Crash Test Recordings, which is being re-launched next month. Ex-pat Pigeon, who works at London’s Most Wanted DJ Agency, has been flying back to Dublin on a regular basis to record with Raff, and the duo have about ten new tracks ready to go. One of them, ‘Mayday’ will be on the other side of Reid’s track. Reid’s fellow Dubliners, Grit Greenglow and Alan Pullen, will provide a side each of the following release on CTR …
Deserving recent winners of an NME Godlike Genius Award, and arguably the world’s greatest band, New Order’s eagerly awaited new single ‘Krafty’ – out March 4 – includes killer dancefloor treatments from Riton, The Glimmers and Phones Reality. BEATS + PIECES has had a sneak preview of the new album – Waiting For The Sirens Call (out March 25 on Warners) and can report that it sees the band, which now includes Phil Cunningham as a full member, on firing form…
The new 2FM schedule sees Mister Spring hosting what he calls “the only electronic music show on national radio” at what he admits is an “odd” time of 10pm to midnight on Saturday, while Conor G moves into the high-profile slot of 6pm to 9pm on Saturday. Conor has just launched a new club, House Arrest, at Traffic in Dublin on Fridays, replacing D1 Recordings’ Model One night… The Tube in Bray, Co Wicklow has been re-launched with three DJs from Dublin radio station FM104. In the mix every Saturday are Stephen Cooper, Jenny Greene and Frank Jez. Incidentally, Jez – already the resident urban guru at Spirit – has now joined the ranks of One, the plush new 1,000-capacity club at Fairyhouse Racecourse run by Jason Denham, former manager of PoD, Temple Theatre, Enigma and The Odeon…
Excess is the name of a pumping new trance event at The Nerve Centre in Derry. It kicks off on March 5, with Northern duo Agnelli & Nelson joined by the exciting Navan newcomer, John O’Callaghan… Recently opened hard dance club Euphoria, running at the Parnell Mooney in Dublin, is now operating on a weekly basis. Sister club Turbulance continues fortnightly at the Bridge House in Enfield, Co Meath… On March 16, Revolution will become the first major dance event at Tralee’s mind-blowing club Fabric, which opened last summer but has been running on a ‘disco’ basis, despite being one of the most dance-friendly venues in the country. The Revolution boys will be teaming up BBC stars Judge Jules and Eddie Halliwell with the Kingdom’s own Jonno Brien. Jonno will also be headlining at the second Back To The Old Skool party at McDades in Tralee on April 9…

Hot remixers The Glimmers play TBMC in Dublin on March 16. On the same night, drum ‘n’ bass don Grooverider plays The Hub… The upcoming TIesto shows at Redbox on March 4 and Lush a night later are sold out, but an industry insider has told B&P that the world’s No1 DJ will be returning in May to play Gatecrasher at the Point. We’ll watch with interest… Three upcoming dates at Crawdaddy in Dublin worth noting are: Decal on March 18, Money Mark on April 24 and DJ Format and MC Abdominal on May 6… Techno pioneer Jeff Mills plays Ten in Waterford on March 16, and Groove Armada are the guests on St Patrick’s Day …

The event is part of his label and club Metalheadz’ tenth anniversary tour …Hip hop legend Cash Money plays Ri-Ra in Dublin tomorrow… And finally, congratulations to Dublin techno club Electric City, which celebrates its second birthday on Thursday March 10 with a live set from French act Vitalic and a DJ set from Austria’s Patrick Pulsinger…
