Following a string of acclaimed singles over the last two years, Thom Southern makes his triumphant return with 'She's So Precious', his first release of 2022.
“The lyrics for the track are about someone in a relationship who’s allowing the other person to take them for granted," the Belfast singer-songwriter explains. "Eventually they wake up to the blindness of their love and see they don’t need this anymore to be happy."
Incorporating elements of shoegaze and traditional indie-rock, 'She's So Precious' offers a promising taste of what to expect from Thom's self-produced debut album, Plaza, out on February 11.
The single also arrives alongside an accompanying music video, filmed by his friend Dan Hewitson, inside a still-functioning video shop in Liverpool, called Video Odyssey.
"'There was no real plan, we just went in with a camera and had a laugh," Thom resumes. "At one point during the filming I saw the awesome Ghostbusters suit hanging on the wall in the store and said to Dan, 'Should I put it on and use this walkie talkie?' The video really came together from there."

Thom initially rose to prominence as one half of sibling duo MMODE, alongside his sister Lucy Gaffney. After sharing stages with the likes of Bill Ryder-Jones, The Coral, Jake Bugg, Bastille, Hudson Taylor, Catfish & The Bottlemen and The Kooks, the pair decided to focus on their own solo projects.
He's currently gearing up to take Plaza on the road – with details of a UK and Ireland tour to be announced soon.
