The group released 'Spacewalk' back in 2023 about their bandmates struggle with cancer.
Bell X1 have released a new music video for their song ‘Spacewalk’ in celebration of Daffodil Day.
Daffodil Day, a fundraiser and awareness initiative by the Irish Cancer Society, takes place today. Glenn Keating, a musician who plays in Bell X1’s live band, was diagnosed with cancer five years ago. His experience inspired the song.
“Glenn is a thoughtful, funny, musically intuitive and gifted dude - who happens to have had the terrible luck of getting cancer,” said vocalist Paul Noonan. “Since his diagnosis in 2020 he has continued to be all of these things, and to bring his infectious positive energy to the band, while going through multiple courses of chemotherapy and other treatment.”
The Irish Cancer Society is looking to raise €30 million this year in order to achieve a record demand for their services.
“We are incredibly grateful to Bell X1 for their amazing support this year to mark Daffodil Day,” said CEO Averil Power. “44,000 people in Ireland each year are told the devastating news that they have cancer, and it is expected that 1 in 2 Irish people will receive a diagnosis in their lifetime. We want to be there to provide our free services and supports for every single one of those people. With only 5% of our funding coming from Government, we urgently need the support of people across Ireland and that’s why we’re asking people to go all in this Daffodil Day.”
