Now that we mention it, Cumberbatch does have that Grinch-esque look about him. That wouldn't matter however, as Cumberbatch will only be lending his voice to bring to life the miserable Grinch.
Cumberbatch has moved on from Doctor Strange to the loveable tales of Dr. Seuss.
Illumination (producers behind the wildly successful Despicable Me) are about to embark on telling the tale of How The Grinch Stole Christmas. With Cumberbatch voicing the Grinch, he will be visualised through use of CG.
It would be an atrocity if producers mangled Dr. Seuss' precious tale, so they are sticking by it. The Christmas classic depicts the tale of the sulky loner, tormented and vilified by the Whoville community and nabbing all of their Christmas goodies until he is brought to learn the true meaning of the festive season. Of course, it will have a slight re-imagination and that will be a joint collaboration between director Peter Candeland and screenwriter Michael LeSieur.
How The Grinch Stole Christmas is due for cinemas in November and for the story that's in it, here's the trailer for the 2000 Jim Carrey's green ghoul Grinch to banish all your yuletide doubts.
