Beoga and Reevah's performances for Van Morrison's 75th birthday celebration are going live tonight.
Following stunning performances for 'Rave On, Van Morrison' last night, we're bringing you another special evening of back-to-back Van covers – with Beoga performing 'Scandinavia', followed by Reevah performing 'Ballerina'.
Over the course of the YouTube event, celebrating Van Morrison's 75th birthday, you can expect even more renditions of his remarkable songs from some of the most iconic names in the country – including President Michael D. Higgins with Bill Whelan, Hozier, Sinéad O'Connor, Bob Geldof, and Glen Hansard , to name just a few.
Irish traditional/folk music quintet Beoga have been a powerful force on the Irish scene since forming at the All-Ireland Fleadh in Kerry in 2002. Their third album, The Incident, was shortlisted for a 2010 Grammy Award nomination. Beoga also contributed to Ed Sheeran’s 2016 album Divide, before releasing their new seven-track EP, Carousel, in May.
Derry-based indie-folk artist Reevah (aka Aoife Boyle) dropped her acclaimed debut EP Hummingbird in 2018, and has been steadily rising through the Irish music ranks ever since. Her 2020 EP release A Different Light garnered Reevah plenty of praise, after she nabbed high profile support slots for the likes of SOAK, Wyvern Lingo and Lisa Hannigan.
Beoga's performance of 'Scandinavia' (7pm Irish Standard Time) and Reevah's performance of 'Ballerina' (8pm) premiere tonight, August 28, on the Hot Press YouTube channel.
