The goal of Future Audio Workshop's Geo Track ID is to assist in the of accuracy in the distribution of licensing fees for those whose music is played.
Geo Track ID, simply referred to as GTI, is a box which is placed in nightclubs that would solve the problem of identifying which songs are being played in clubs. The group in charge of this in Germany, GEMA, currently uses a committee and it's results are generally inaccurate, with measurements using aspects such as radio play that skew away from the music played at house and techno clubs.
GTI works as a box installed installed into a nightclub's sound system. The system keeps a record of what is played and sends it to an encrypted database. The system is backed by the music library Juno, which includes vinyl only releases in its catalogue and allows labels to submit music to it directly online. Future Audio Workshop rates GTI's success at 90%.
