Beyonce Wins Big at VMAs - Full List of Winners

Beyoncé was the big winner last night at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards in New York City.

Taking place this year at the city's Madison Square Garden, the ceremony attracted a host of big names from the music and entertainment world, with the likes of Kanye West, Rihanna and Drake all present. While Kanye didn't take the opportunity to perform during his allotted four minutes on stage, Beyoncé, Rihanna and Britney Spears were among the live performers on the night.

And it was the artist behind the acclaimed visual album 'Lemonade' who dominated proceedings, picking up eight awards across the course of the night, including Best Pop Video (for 'Formation'), Best Female Video ('Hold Up') and the coveted Video of the Year award ('Formation'), beating off the likes of Adele and Justin Bieber in the process.

Elsewhere, Calvin Harris won Best Male Video for the Rihanna-featuring 'This Is What You Came For', Twenty One Pilots were victorious in scooping Best Rock Video ('Heathens') and Coldplay won their only award of the night in the form of Best Visual Effects for the visuals for their single 'Up&Up'. David Bowie's video for 'Blackstar', meanwhile, won the award for Best Art Direction.
