Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You arrives Feb. 11
Big Thief have once again delighted fans with their iconic folk sound aindie rs they release a pair of endearing new singles, 'No Reason' and 'Spud Infinity' from their upcoming album, Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You, set to be released on February 11th, 2022.
The LP was recorded in four different sessions in Upstate New York, Topanga Canyon, the Rocky Mountains, and Dr. Dog's Scott McMicken's home studio in Tucson, Arizona over a five month period. The result was 45 completed songs, cut down to 20 carefully selected tracks for the record that highlight the band's unanticipated moments of magic.
During the third recording session in the Colorado Rockies, the band heard someone playing music from a nearby lookout tower. They later met the musician, Richard Hardy, who played on countless records and was an old collaborator of Carole King. They invited him to sit in on some songs, and his fluting features on the wholesome 'No Reason'.
The second track, 'Spud Infinity', is a quickly recognisable tune to Big Thief fanatics and features Adrianne Lenker's younger brother Noah on the jaw harp and Mat Davidson on the fiddle. The inviting track has been played live a number of times before the band prepared an official recording.

“One of the things that bonds us together as a band is pure magic,” Lenker said in a statement. “I think we all have the same guide and none of us have ever spoken what it is because we couldn’t name it, but somehow, we are all going for the same thing, and when we hit it… we all know it’s it, but none of us to this day, or maybe ever, will be able to articulate in words what the ‘it’ is. Something about it is magic to me.”
In June, the four-piece band announced their upcoming UK and European tour, which features their largest Dublin headline show to date. They will perform at the National Stadium on February 26, 2022.
